Chair of Governors - Daniel Brooke

Welcome to the Cecil Jones Academy. I am delighted to have the opportunity to offer my experience and knowledge to the Academy during this exciting transformation. I have two children of school age and know what a difference a school can make to a child's start in life.

In business I am a General Manager for Olympus, a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and hold a Batchelor's Degree in Biomedical Science.

On weekends I can be found with a camera, as a keen photographer, Stand-up Paddle boarding or with my children at Rugby practice.

Principal - Martin Ovenden

I have taught at Cecil Jones Academy since 2001 when I joined as Head of History and Sociology. I understand the needs of all stakeholders and the local community. Our opening as an Academy as part of Legra Academy Trust has revitalised the institution and given us the clearest opportunity to deliver the outstanding provision our students deserve in order to maximise their life chances. I am delighted to be working with a dedicated team of Governors and leaders in order to make the correct strategic and operational decisions to transform our Academy at a rapid pace. Our students are richly talented and deserve the best support and challenge to fulfil their potential.

Governor - Karen Willis

I am an experienced Governor and Clerk to Governors at a range of schools across the educational phases within Essex County Council and Southend Borough Council. Until recently I was Chair of Governors at a successful five form infant school and nursery which maintained a "Good" grade at the last Ofsted inspection in June 2013.

Having worked as a Business Manager and Project Manager for a London Borough for 25 years I have expert knowledge of financial management, project management, data analysis and people management.

I will strategically support and challenge the Academy to enable our children to have access to the best education and opportunities possible and will use my knowledge and experience from being a DfE appointed member of the previous CJC Interim Executive Board as a foundation for me to support the new Academy Local Governing Body.

Governor - Karina Sullivan

I am an enthusiastic Project Manager for the Corporate Division at Olympus KeyMed. I am PRINCE2 qualified and hold a degree in Law. As a former student of Cecil Jones I am committed to ensuring the school and students achieve high standards.

Governor - James McCluskey

I am the parish priest of St. Luke's Church (CofE). I am married with four children. Three of my four children attended Cecil Jones College. Since leaving Cecil Jones one of my daughters is now qualified as a Nurse, one joined the Army as soon as he left the school and is now qualified as Royal Logistic Operator and is also now an Army Physical Training Instructor. My other daughter is now going to University in Cambridge studying Zoology. I mention this because Cecil Jones gave them the opportunity to fulfill their potential; both the school, pupils and my children included had to work hard at availing this potential; it's that potential for all children whatever their background and circumstances that concerns me to offer my experience of the school as a parent and parish priest and also my previous and current experience as a Governor at other schools, one of which I serve as Chair of Governors.

Governor - Tara Madden

Governor - Ross Williams

I have worked at Belfairs Academy for 14 years and I have had the pleasure of being a part of its road to success.

As Governor of Cecil Jones Academy I look forward to bringing my expertise in Primary Transition, Behaviour Management and student Enrichment to the LGB.

I believe that every child should be given the opportunity to succeed and I hope that with my role on the LGB we will continue to make this possible for all children that pass through the doors of Cecil Jones Academy.
